…and I can-not lie!
I guess I’m in a funny mood today. Blame it on a commercial for what I call “BS TV”. I won’t name names, but it’s one of VH1’s popular shows.
As an artist (when I feel like it), an animal, and a lover of all things natural and made by nature, I feel that curvy figures are the most beautiful. They look soft, healthy and vibrant, and not to mention fertile. As a woman, I’ve never embraced the thinner ideology to the point of protruding bones, looking like a petite doll, or waif-ish androgyny. If that’s your your bag, good on you, mate!
I love how physical fitness has evolved to embrace both strength and curves without an overabundance of both. And to incorporate a realistic diet, as well, without all the nonsense and fads? Hooray! I’m beyond grateful that stores are FINALLY utilizing mannequins that display real body types and not the typical one-size-fits-none that only a small portion of the population ascribes to.
Special Note: I don’t care what’s said about her- Serena Williams’s body is the EPITOME of all that’s good: diet, exercise, training, discipline, and genetics.
I’m seeing a growing trend in body modifications. Having worked in an OR environment for nearly a decade, I’ve been privy to some interesting surgical procedures (vulva or penis reshaping, anyone?). The uptick in gluteal implants/injections has me concerned, and it’s mainly because of why this is fast becoming a norm.
Everyone wants their moment in the sun. We live in a society where everything and anything can be caught on camera, and it only takes one video to go viral before you’re an insta-celebrity. I believe our collective vanity has gotten out of control, and is set to worsen as the years go on (until society implodes, but that’s a different post all together).
I keep seeing women looking extremely…overripe. Disproportionate. Sometimes, downright strange.
Cartoonish, even.
I saw a woman a few days ago with a butt shaped like an abstract heart…complete with corners. How does a butt have edges, of all things? Unless you’re SpongeBob, it damned well shouldn’t. It made me question both her sanity and eyesight, as well as her “surgeon’s” credentials.
I’m going to end this with a PSA: Friends, while nothing is wrong with plastic surgery or injections, please don’t go overboard. Remember what time does to us all, and unlike artificial flowers, we will (if we are fortunate) age and return to the dust. We also change as we grow older, and develop maturity of the mind (hopefully). You’re going to get to a point in your evolution where none of that artifice matters.
I just hope it was worth the trouble, and the cost.
