Sidewalk Pimpin’

Because this needs to be said…

It’s funny how you only think of things in hindsight.

Recently, I realized how much people have taken being assholes to the nth level.

And here I thought the “we need a haircut” craze of 2020, sedition, Karens and Kevins, people choosing to be hateful and cruel because it’s easier to be cowards and sheep than to propel humanity forward for the benefit of us all, the dismissal of SCIENCE, etc, were all bad enough.

Even if this isn’t as bad as any of that, it still needs to be addressed.

So…when did Karens and Kevins start gatekeepering sidewalk spaces?

I’ve heard the “I didn’t see you” bullshit enough times that it’s practically comedy at this point. I’m not invisible or a shadow. I don’t blend into my surroundings unless I WANT to. I’m a few inches shy of being 6 feet tall, not thin, brown, and have long loc’ed hair. I take up enough space where it’s noticeable.

So, I don’t want to hear anything about me not being seen.

Especially when you’re staring at me.

And moving into my direction when I’m moving away from yours.

I’m not moving again.

If we come to a standstill while being face to face, I will not do that idiotic dance of “who’s moving first,” because at that point, I’m choosing violence.

Do people ever do any soul searching to figure out why they feel so entitled?

Or address some of that internal misery that makes them want the world to burn because they’re hurting?

It’s weird asf to think that by virtue of your existence, people need to carve out a space in their world for yours.

That is true for everything from friendship to dating to driving to yes, even walking down the street.

Because no one owes you anything,

You are not special.

Please get over yourself and maybe get some therapy.

We all need it in one way or another.

No disclaimers on this one. I said what I said. And, for the record, even children can be Karens and Kevins.

I mean, it had to start somewhere.
